Trusting Jesus – Finding Your Place
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
When going through the seasons of life, you may struggle finding where you fit in. Things you once valued takes second place, and you look at life differently. Recently I heard a remake of Michael W. Smith’s song, “A Place in this World” by For King and Country.
As I pulled my car over to listen to the words it bought tears to my eyes. I thought about how when you are going through changes in your life it can be hard to find your place.
One part of the song hit me hard:
“If there are millions down on their knees;
among the many –
Can you still hear me?
Hear me asking – Where do I belong?
Facing a health issue, I find that the things I once loved, either I don’t have the energy for or can no longer do because of mobility issues.
I started a tradition of picking a word for the year to focus on. Last year’s word was “Joy.” I learned a lot through the twist and turns of the year; how to put Jesus first in everything, others second and me last. JOY (Jesus, Others and You) is the formula for pure joy.
Where I lacked, Jesus always supplied, and He always surrounded me with the people I needed at just the right time.
I tried to decide on a word this year and after prayer and, soul searching, I could not decide on just one. I picked two “Hope and Praise.” They went hand in hand.
Hope reminds me that God is on the throne and all things will work out. Even if they are not the way I expected, I will still praise Him. Sometimes blessings come with tears of sadness or gladness.
As I look toward the future, I don’t know what is in store health wise, or financially – none of us do. When we chose to follow Jesus, we must surrender all to Him. Hope and trust He will guide and care for us. Even if we don’t see Him moving, we can continue to lift our hands in praise. God has a place in this world for us and with each prayer, worship song, or kind gesture – we are glorifying his kingdom.
