Trusting Jesus – Letting Go of Control

Trusting Jesus – Letting Go of Control

he Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

Psalm 126:3 NIV

One of the hardest things for me is to let go of things I cannot control. As I get older, this task gets harder.

I trust God with the path, but I always want to know how we are going get there. When I was little, family vacations became a project for me. As soon as I knew where we were going, I got out the trusty map to see all the cities we would drive through. I wanted to learn something about where we were going and what we were going to do.

When I went to college, I made sure I registered on the first day of registration, so I could get my books and look through all the things I would learn that semester.

Facing health issues knowing that things will likely progress feels overwhelming. As much as a I try to control things with medications and doctors, there is only so much, they can do to help.

One day as I was paying bills, I remembered what my grandmother said she did before she paid any bills. “Lay your hands on your bank book and thank God for his provision the seen and the unseen and always give him your first fruits.” She said that is how her and my grandfather made it through the Great Depression while raising a family. She said you must surrender all to Jesus, even the little things.

God always provides, maybe not in the ways we think will happen or our timeframe. He can change outcomes in a blink of eye. Never give up hope and always remember to give praise. Joy will fill your heart each time when you let go of control. Hope will arise, and praise will emerge.
