Salvation Lasts Forever

My righteous rule will never end!

Isaiah 51:6 NLT

When my daughter was about two years old, she loved to play games with her daddy. During one of these games, she would run to her daddy, he would catch her and throw her up in the air. She would giggle and as he put her down, she would run away and say, “Do it again!” and run back toward him giggling.

This continued on until my husband’s arms finally wore out and he changed her attention to a new game that gave his arms relief.

But she didn’t want it to change and she kept saying, “Do it again!”.

Change is hard sometimes and we don’t always want change. But God lets us know in Scripture that change is coming for our earth too.

I have learned to listen to God’s Words, although tough to read at times…

Look up to the skies above, and gaze down on the earth below. For the skies will disappear like smoke, and the earth will wear out like a piece of clothing. The people of the earth will die like flies, but my salvation lasts forever. My righteous rule will never end! (Isaiah 51:6 NLT).

When I consider that earthly things will end someday, yet spiritual things like salvation and things of God will continue on forever. These truths cause me to shift my attention to the spiritual life God gives me, focusing on God’s eternal things that last forever.

This shift lets my heart seek the spiritual things of God and the real life that Paul talks about in Colossians…

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:2-3 NLT).

This changes my focus as I live on earth now to a life that tells another about all of the amazing things of God and my life with Him. This changes my prayer life to a life that focuses on, who else can I tell about You, Lord?

Life here will come to an end someday, but God’s salvation lasts forever!

Who do you know that needs to hear that today?

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me whispering… “Your life with me is eternal and will continue beyond this earth.” Lord, help me share my journey with You with another. Lead me to the one that needs You. Change is coming; help me share Your plan for salvation! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
