Your Real Life

Your Real Life

Think about the things of heaven

Colossians 3:3 NLT

When I was young, our family was driving through the beautiful mountains of Colorado. It was my first time to see it. As I looked out the car window, amazed at what I saw, I asked my mom, “is this heaven?”

Over the years, we have laughed about that innocent question from my young heart. But I have wondered, what if I really lived my life… like I was in heaven?

It brings to mind this Scripture that Paul wrote…

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:2-3 NLT).

As a Christian, my life is to be lived focused on the things of heaven, focused on the spiritual activity of God. This is my real life. This is an interesting and alive life that has a totally different focus than a plain, earthly life.

This means I am to pray and live with my spiritual life in mind. I am to seek God’s favor with spiritual things, such as His Will for serving the church, sharing His Word with others, and telling others what He has done for me and how He has changed me. Asking Him to work through me inspired by His Spirit. These are some of the spiritual things of heaven, a life in Christ.

What about you, friend, do you live your life like you are in heaven?

In the past, I have lived life focused on myself and what God can do for me. I needed to see these things in order to share what God has done for me. But there comes a time, that Paul writes about, to shift my focus and change, to think about the things of heaven and live the real life with Christ Jesus.

Let’s live focused on things of heaven.

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… whispering, “Trust Me, and live like you are in heaven now. Seek the things that I seek for you. This is real life with Me.” Lord, help me seek your favor as I listen to Your Holy Spirit and when inspired, share Your Word or tell others what You have done for me. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
