Write
Get a scroll, and write down all my messages
Jeremiah 36:2 NLT
Do you journal? Write?
I use writing to process my thoughts.
God can use it to show you something that He wants you to see.
God told Jeremiah to write down His message for a purpose… for change…
(God is speaking to Jeremiah) Get a scroll, and write down all my messages against Israel, Judah and the other nations. Begin with the first message back in the days of Josiah, and write down every message, right up to the present time. Perhaps the people of Judah will repent when they hear again all the terrible things, I have planned for them. Then, I will be able to forgive their sins and wrongdoings. (Jeremiah 36:2-3 NLT).
God’s purpose was to list the bad things that would happen… so the people would repent… so He could forgive them.
And God has a purpose in listing the good things, too…
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me – everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9 NLT).
When I make a list of what I see Jesus is doing in my life… when I fix my thoughts there… I see Him.
When I see Jesus and keep my focus on Him, it calms me… I have His incredible supernatural peace.
In the quiet of your heart, it will calm you, too.
Everything else will melt away… and your focus will be on Jesus.
Then, thankfully, the God of peace is with you and me.
Lord, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… whispering… write. Even today, I am so grateful for all the warnings to stay away from evil and wickedness. In my writing I can see my own heart, my mistakes, and my need to seek Your forgiveness. And I can see all of Your good that Jesus brings into my life, encouraging me, keeping my trust in Jesus strong, bringing me peace. Help me focus on the good things. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
