In the Silence
I’d never forget you – never.
Isaiah 49:15 MSG
The sound of silence… Do you know it?
There are times with God though… when it is too quiet.
And I think… God have You forgotten me?
I am not alone in this thought… God’s people in Scripture have wondered this too.
But Zion said, “I don’t get it. God has left me. My Master has forgotten I even exist.” Can a mother forget the infant at her breast… But even if mothers forget, I’d never forget you - never. Look, I’ve written your names on the backs of my hands. (Isaiah 49:14-16 MSG).
Look at God’s response… I’d never forget you – never.
And… Your names are on the backs of my hands.
So why the silence?
In Scripture, the problem was often the person’s sin… but God was blamed.
Today, could it be the same with me? With you?
Sometimes, the silence is God’s timing… a time of waiting.
Either way, how do I respond?
Trust.
Self-check. Repent, if necessary… and wait on the Lord.
Believe what Jesus says…
For the Father himself loves you dearly because you love me and believe that I came from God. (John 16:27 NLT).
Believe… you are dearly loved.
Do you believe Jesus?
Sometimes, the silence is before a change… causing you to focus on Jesus so you spiritually “see” what He is doing.
Silence… to get your attention.
Trust Jesus.
He will restore things to a right order in time… bringing spiritual peace.
Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me helping me see that You use all things, even silence to communicate with me. Drawing my spiritual eyes to focus on You so I will see what you are doing. Help me wait and watch for You. Bring me peace in the waiting. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
