In My Way

As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.

2 Samuel 22: 31 & 33

I looked down at my text and laughed, “About to be in my way.” What I meant to say was, “About to be ON my way.” I had intended to let a friend know of my plan, but had inadvertently led myself to ponder my mistake.

In my way – how many times have I done just that – gotten in my own way of doing things God’s way?

Wouldn’t it be nice to receive a message warning us about getting in our own way?

Guess what friends? We do have that privilege. God sends messages directly to us through his Holy Spirit and his Word. We choose whether or not to listen to his voice and whether or not to obey.

We might hear messages like: “Hey! Are you showing love to the people around you?” “Look out! Will your next action honor God or yourself?” “Heads up! Impulsive actions heading your way!” “Think! Will pride keep you from the opportunity to witness coming up?”  “Uh oh! Does this heated argument lead someone to understand your point or further heat up their anger against you?”

The Bible says God’s way is perfect. He provides us with his flawless Word. He shields us even from our own selfishness when we take refuge in Him. He gives us the strength to stay secure in Him and overcome our own immaturity.

Because of His promises we can say, “Hey! I am not IN my way, but I am ON my way with Him.”

His way brings us much more satisfaction than our own way.

Lord, we give you honor and praise for providing us, your children, with direction and strength to maneuver through this life. Your way is surely perfect.
