Chocolate Kiss

Chocolate Kiss

This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:9 & 10 NIV

A chocolate kiss—how heavenly! It's small enough to pop into a mouth yet big enough to emit that glorious, sweet chocolate flavor. We savor that deliciousness as the kiss mixes with our saliva and melts slowly away. The chocolate can permeate our tastebuds for a good long while.

God’s Word—how heavenly! When we open the Bible, His scriptures go straight to our hearts and wrap around them. The meaning permeates our whole being.

Recently, I had such a reaction to a scripture. I felt God’s kiss as I read it:

“This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one

and only son into the world that we might live through him.”

God gave us something so precious and so unique. He showed us his love by giving us his Son. We can savor God’s goodness and let it wash over us. Unlike a chocolate kiss, it does not fade away. As we devour this good news, it grows.

Jesus, God’s Son, coming to the world; what a great cause for celebration at Christmas time. As a chocolate kiss puts a smile on our faces, God’s ultimate sacrifice to show his love for us shakes us to our core, making our spirits smile.

Because of Jesus’ birth, we have the hope of Salvation, the joy of Redemption, and the assurance of a life with Him here on earth and afterward in Heaven. Let us savor that knowledge as never before. Let us give God the glory he deserves as we celebrate Him this Christmas.

God, thank you for your love and the gift of your Son. Your kiss is much better than any chocolate one.
