Jesus is with You—Keep Praying
The smoke of the incense and the prayers of God’s people went up before God from the angel’s hand.
Revelation 8:4 NIV
One of my favorite Christian musical artists is Matthew West – his songs speak to me. But his most recent song, “Don’t Stop Praying,” has been uplifting. Each month, I choose a song to begin my daily devotional, and this month, it was “Don’t Stop Praying.”
So often, I feel like my prayers go as far as the ceiling. In the last few weeks, I have lifted friends up for healing, help, and guidance; the results were not always what we had hoped. I have found myself standing at gravesites, celebrating a life well lived, but also seeing the pain in my friends’ faces as they said goodbye to their loved one. I asked the Lord for comfort and peace.
Lately, I have found some changes in my life difficult to manage. Sometimes, in my devotional time, I ask Jesus, “Are you listening?” Then I am reminded of the chorus of the song, “Don’t Stop Praying”:
“Don't stop praying
Don't stop calling on Jesus' name
Keep on pounding on Heaven's door
And let your knees wear out the floor
Don't stop believing
'Cause mountains move with just a little faith
And your Father's heard every single word you're saying
So, don't stop praying.”
Excerpt from Matthew West’s song, “Don’t Stop Praying.”
Throughout the Bible, we are reminded to keep praying and that God does hear us. He may not answer our prayers the way we want or expect. But one thing we know—the answer will be better than we can ever imagine. Until we see Him face to face, we must keep praying, putting all our trust in the One who knows what is best for us.
