Grace That is Greater
Even if our thoughts tell us that we have done something wrong, we still will not be afraid of God. We can trust God more than we trust our thoughts. He already knows everything about
1 John 3:20 EASY
During a small gathering of women in a weekly Bible study group, I asked a question for each to answer.
“What allows you to share your faith story with others, whether Jesus-followers or not?”
“Grace. God’s grace.” Everyone answered the same around the table.
I sighed and stared in disbelief. They had given me their best “Sunday school” answer. Or so I judged.
Later that evening, their common answer taunted me. God nudged my walled-off spirit, and I sensed Him assuring me that grace was my answer, too.
Truth toppled the wall. It was grace—God’s kindness showered on my behalf—that I did not deserve. Grace has allowed me to write my honest faith story without fear of punishment. Up until then, I had left out the shameful parts.
How could I serve God considering my two divorces while a follower of Christ? I had forgotten grace and condemned myself. I believed myself to be disqualified.
But God’s grace is greater than all my sin—past, present, and future.
Prideful fear had kept me in hiding in bondage for years—but no more.
Sing this beloved hymn with me and live in freedom!
“Grace Greater than Our Sin” *
Marvelous grace of our loving Lord, Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt, Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured, There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt. Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin. (First Stanza)
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, Freely bestowed on all who believe; All who are longing to see his face, Will you this moment his grace receive? Marvelous grace, infinite grace, Marvelous grace, infinite grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin. (Third Stanza)
