Do you know Whose you are?
Children of God
John 1:12 NLT
At times, I am too hard on myself.
I focus on all my failures.
I can make a long list in my mind.
While focusing on the lies, I forget the truth.
Then, Jesus interrupts my thoughts, steps in and reminds me…
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn – not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God (John 1:12-13 NLT).
Jesus reminds me whose I am, and that I belong to Him.
I am His child.
As His child, I have been reborn.
This means the truth in Scripture is mine.
Truth like…
I am remarkably and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14 CSB).
I am loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3 CSB).
I am one of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession with a special job – to proclaim the praises of God to the world (1 Peter 2:9 CSB).
My God knows my name (Isaiah 43:1 CSB).
I am fully known as a child of God (Psalm 139:1 CSB).
My God goes before me (Deuteronomy 31:8 CSB).
I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13 NLT).
I needed to hear and thrive on all that truth.
Did you need to hear that too?
Know whose you are.
Take comfort in your identity as a child of God.
Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… reminding me to stop allowing lies to enter my mind and focus on the truth of who I am in You. Help me move forward in faith that I am Your chosen child fully known and loved by You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
