Blueberries and Fish
Once again the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and seperate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:47-50
My girls love to eat blueberries. Once we get our delicious batch of this fruit we are to wash and look through them to pick out all the shriveled up blueberries. Sometimes there are bad blueberries mixed in with the good ones. The bad blueberries get tossed and the juicy and plump ones get to be enjoyed as a wonderful snack or dessert for the whole family to share.
Jesus shares this parable about the fish to explain to us what the last judgment was going to be like. He wants to make sure our hearts are where they need to be. To be a good fish, you need to have Christ as your Savior, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and direct your life. A bad fish is one that is self seeking, does not acknowledge Christ as Savior and looks to please only herself. Just like I chose for my family which blueberries we would enjoy, the angels, chosen by God, will decide who is welcomed into eternity and who will be seperated. My prayer is that you will know where you belong, and one day get to enjoy the wonderful life waiting for you in eternity.
Dear Mighty God, I pray for anyone reading this that does not know You as their personal Savior will invite You in their heart today.
