Not on Our Own
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.

We are all on a journey. Interestingly enough each one travels his or her own unique path, but there are commonalities that tend to draw us together.
Jobs, hobbies, or interests lead people to organized clubs or groups for enhancement, enrichment, and friendship. Of course, not just positives lead people to join together. Sometimes seemingly negatives can draw us together for support, strength, and comfort.
For years I halfheartedly prayed about my food problem, feeling like I should want to be healed from it while at the same time loving my delicious favorites. I tried different things, but would quit after I lost the unwanted pounds. I went through the motions of losing weight, but never dealt with the real issue of putting food before God. Eventually the weight would come right back on leading me to shame and defeat.
Although not proud of my relationship with food, God showed me I did not have to be ashamed. I had to follow his lead to find “my group.” Others struggle with the same problem I do. These beautiful kind caring women deal with the same frustrations with food. They understand the ups and downs, steps forward and steps backwards just like me. God drew us together with better health, friendship, and growing closer to him as our common goals.
I no longer have to struggle alone in shame. I now work together with my First Place for Health group to have balance in all areas of my life -- physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. We are on this journey together. We pray for each other, encourage one another, laugh, and cry together. Much better than when I tried to do it all on my own.
These are my “peeps”, this is my group. Thank you, God for orchestrating this group.
God, you never intended for us to isolate ourselves. You gave us your Word, your people, and yourself. Thankfully, we never have to go through anything “on our own.”
