Glimpses
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
This verse is so comforting to us. We know that our God is good, and He works all things for our good. BUT . . . we also must remember that our good may include struggles and pain. Our good may come by walking through that tough thing.
When we walk through seasons of doubt or maybe even a long wait to see God move, it is a blessing when we see the “good” that comes. We really are not guaranteed to see the good that may come from our pain. However, that has been my prayer in many hard things, that God would be gracious to let us see the good that comes from difficulty.
And He is often gracious in that. Even when the story is not completely sorted out, He sometimes gives me glimpses of what is to come. Can you relate? That circumstance may take a slight turn in a positive direction, maybe not a 180, but just a slight bend to show me where it may be headed. It’s kind of like the Lord is giving a little hint that maybe, just maybe, we will see the positive, the joy in the thing.
Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:2-4 CSB).
Being mature and complete in Him. Lacking nothing in Him. That sounds pretty good to me. But until I am complete, in the fullness of Heaven, I will be grateful for any glimpse of His goodness in my life, and in my trials. He gives me just the little whisper I need to keep going, to keep trusting Him. Hope.
Thank you, Father, that You are working all things out. Thank you for showing us glimpses that give us hope, even if life still seems unsure. I’m thankful for the glimpses of what’s to come in You.
