Trust in God’s Plan
I am God, and there is no other, I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, “My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summoned a bird of prey, from a far off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about, what I have planned, that I will do.
Isaiah 46:9-11
God had a plan and a message for Nineveh. He wanted Jonah to be the one who delivered the message to the wicked nation. Jonah, however, did not want to be involved in God’s plan, so he ran away. He thought he could escape from his calling by going in the opposite direction from Nineveh. God desired Nineveh to repent from their evil ways and nothing Jonah did could waver His plan.
When the Almighty God has a plan, nothing we do can prevent Him from accomplishing His will. Jonah boarded a ship, endured a storm, and was gulped by a whale before he realized that God had a plan for him and he needed to complete it.
We can put or trust in God’s plan and have the assurance that He is patient with us to see us through. Jonah realized this when he said, “I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity”(Jonah 4:2).
So when we think we can run away from the task God has called us to do, He is waiting patiently for us to turn around and do the right thing. The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Dear God,
Forgive me for running away from the task You have called me to complete. Help me to put my trust in Your provision to see me through.
