Third Try

Third Try

…you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Psalm 32:7b

Trying to find a home in a large metropolis proved to be much more difficult than I expected. The market was very different from our small East Texas town.

The first day of our hunt started off with much anticipation. Our realtor led us to a wonderful home that we really liked so we made the offer to buy it. Much to our distress we found out it not only had minor flooding in Hurricane Harvey, but also someone else had beat us to an offer.

The next day, we found a house we liked even better. It had more privacy and a beautiful yard we just could not pass up. Once again, we put in an offer to buy it, but another buyer got the seller’s approval instead of us.

We looked at many other houses each having some elements we liked. Finally, our realtor went out on a limb and showed us a house which was older than what my husband wanted. We found that its age did not matter. It checked all our boxes. Our offer accepted, we felt very peaceful about our decision on this particular house.

Even though frustrated at looking at so many houses, I just kept praying that God would direct us. I trusted God would lead us to the best one for us. I believed he would protect us from making the wrong decision and he certainly did. He directed us to the best choice.

I know we have many more decisions to make as we move to a new area. My apprehension lessens though when I think of how God has helped protect us in the process so far. His is so faithful.

God, you know what’s best. Your protection brings us peace and rejoicing. My heart sings in worship to you.
