An Eye-opening Walk with Jesus
This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.
John 2:11
A wedding. A shortage of wine. A need presented to Jesus by His mother, followed by anticipation of an answer. The disciples who accompanied Jesus to the wedding watched His every move. What would He do? What could be done to save this couple from humiliation at the onset of their marriage?
The disciples had just begun following Jesus, believing Him to be the promised Messiah. One disciple had already proclaimed Jesus to be the Son of God, the King of Israel. (John 1:49) But did the disciples really know Jesus? Were their expectations of Him in line with God’s plan and purpose?
Jesus did for the disciples what He does for each of us. He progressively revealed His glory to them as they followed Him day by day. At the wedding, Jesus revealed Himself to be a compassionate miracle-worker. He demonstrated His ability to take that which is ordinary and transform it into the extraordinary. Jesus demonstrated His love and care for those He created. They witnessed a glimpse of His glory, and their faith in Him grew.
Walking with Jesus results in awe-filled knowledge of Him.
Today you have the opportunity to witness a glimpse of the glory of Jesus Christ. It matters not where you go. What is important is that you keep your focus upon Him throughout every circumstance you face. Jesus wants you to come to know Him more fully, whether you have been following Him for a short time or for many years.
Believer, are you satisfied with what you know about Jesus, or do you hunger to know Him more and more? The truth is, the more you come to know Jesus, the more you desire to know Him.
Lord Jesus, I want to walk with You today. I want to know You. Give me eyes to see beyond the visible, so I might behold Your glory.
