Saying Goodbye
After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David,
and he loved him as himself.
1 Samuel 18:1
My husband and I closed the back of the U-Haul truck with the final load from our home. We were moving hours away to be close to family. Before driving away from my hometown, we had to make one final stop to my friend Natalie’s house.
Natalie and I became friends when we joined a Newly Married Sunday School class. She and I instantly felt a connection and soon a friendship was born. We enjoyed many dinners together, started a ladies bible study group, and prayed weekly with each other.
One of the greatest moments of our friendship was finding out we were both pregnant around the same time. As we held our new born babies we encouraged each other. Those sweet times made our friendship truly special.
A flood of these memories were making this particular day very difficult. I was having to tell my sweet friend, goodbye. As I hopped back in the U-Haul with a heavy heart, tears began pouring from my face. God used this moment to remind me certain friendships hold a special place in our heart that distance can not change.
What a blessing from the Lord to have that kind of friend
Dear God, Thank you for special friendships!
