Formed, Forgiven, Never Forgotten!

Remember these things, Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you, you are my servant; Israel, you will never be forgotten by me.

Isaiah 44:21

God made us, saved us, and will never forget us! Joy!

Isaiah was prophesying this to Israel. God would deliver this rebellious nation from their enemies. He’d made a covenant with Abraham and He would not break it, no matter what they did. 

In reading Isaiah 44 I found comfort, for Israel, and for myself, in verses 21-23: Remember these things, Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you, you are my servant; Israel, you will never be forgotten by me. I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like a mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you. Rejoice, heavens, for the LORD has acted; shout, depths of the earth. Break out into singing, mountains, forest, and every tree in it. For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and glorifies himself through Israel.

This reminds Israel God created them. They were to serve Him. He would be with them even in their sin. He would save them if they would repent and turn to Him. And, He would never forget them. 

This is true for us as Christ followers. He forms, forgives, and never forgets us…EVER. Throughout the Old Testament we see a “remnant” of God’s followers who live through the hardest circumstances and the greatest sins. They came back to God time and again and received forgiveness. 

This warms my heart with assurance. On the hardest days, in greatest losses and sins, and among the cruelest enemies, this holds true for me, and for you. 

My prayer is that all people will bow before a holy God to find refuge in Him alone. Let’s pray for others to turn to Jesus, find refuge physically and spiritually, and one day walk into eternity.

Jesus, you are our refuge, every single day. Thank you for your forgiveness and that you never forget your creation.
