Do You Need a Safety Pin?
The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.
Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)
I realize some people may think I am goofy, and I may be a little at times, but I just do not believe in coincidences when it comes to God and his people.
As I opened my car door to leave for church one Sunday, I noticed a safety pin on the garage floor. Wondering how it ended up there, I picked it up and stuck it in my change purse. I figured I would take it in the house and put it in its proper place when we got home.
That morning we helped with baptism at church. Our pastor baptized five wonderful adults who had declared Jesus as their Savior. I assisted the ladies with changing and wet clothes afterwards. One of the ladies, after she got dressed realized she had a slight rash on her chest. She mentioned it and wished the neckline on her dress could come together a bit more to hide it.
Immediately my mind went to what I had found that morning.
I asked, “Would you like a safety pin?”
I truly believe God orchestrated that situation. He caused me to notice the safety pin in my garage. He caused her to say something out loud so I could respond. It seemed like a small need, but He met it beautifully.
What’s our takeaway from this incident? God knows our needs no matter how small they may appear to be. He has a plan to meet our needs both big and small. He may use someone around us to help. Both that person and the one with the need must be willing to accept and act on his solution.
“Do you need a safety pin?” Tell him. Recognize his hand in the provision. It involves no coincidences, magic, or flukes, just his amazing caring hand.
God, thank you that even our tiniest need matters to you. Thank you for your provision.
