Amazing Faith… Amazing Life
Their weakness was turned to strength
Hebrews 11:34 NLT
In the days of old (and I mean really long-ago) Scripture says…
Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation (Hebrews 11:2 NLT).
Look at what this group did by faith…
By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God has promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. Women received their loved ones back again from death (Hebrews 11:33-35 NLT).
This is really amazing… overthrowing kingdoms… shutting the mouths of lions… putting whole armies to flight… receiving loved ones back from death.
The life of faith lived correctly is incredible.
The people in the days of old seem to be super-human!
I have wondered, how did they do this?
But then I noticed this – their weakness was turned to strength.
What? If they are weak, then they are not super-human… but regular folks.
Regular people, weak like me, who chose to live a life of faith.
Then, I was even more amazed and realized these words are for me too…
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin the so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us (Hebrews 12:1 NLT).
So… I don’t have to be a super-woman.
This gives me hope. I can be a weak person who trusts in God, like they were. And my weakness will be turned to strength too!
Whatever race God sets before me, I am to run and move forward.
Jesus will give me the endurance for it… the strength.
Jesus has something amazing planned ahead.
My life is to be an incredible life of faith too… lived out with Him.
Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… whispering that You want me to trust You and You will turn my weakness into Your strength in whatever I face ahead. Help me live out the life of faith with You that You have planned for me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
