Angelic Protection
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
to keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up,
lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Psalm 91:11 NKJV
The thought of God charging angels to “keep watch over you” comforts me, especially since I mostly think of angels watching over children. When my young son fell out of a tree, his sister ran into the kitchen screaming for help. As I headed out the door, he passed me on his way in.
“Are you hurt?” I asked frantically.
“No, an angel caught me,” he replied.
He still holds fast to that opinion as an adult—an angel caught him. Children and angels seem to go hand-in-hand, but angels watching over me feels different.
I am familiar with the Biblical stories of angels appearing to Abraham and Lot, to Mary, to the shepherds at Christ’s birth, and to those who discovered the empty tomb. However, these events seem more like a beautiful story from the past rather than an actual experience that could occur unseen in my own life.
Accepting this beautiful truth, that God has given His angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways, deserves my reflection and my faith. I look forward to discovering the times those angels cared for me in my earthly journey. Perhaps we will discuss these adventures during our shared time in eternity. For now, I rejoice that this is one of the many ways my heavenly Father chooses to provide for me and for all those who know Him!
Father, thank you that You are involved in my life in so many ways. Teach me to rest, in faith, in Your care.
