Faithful God
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34 CSB
Have you ever had a season in your life in which a character quality of the Lord continues to come to mind? God keeps reminding me of His faithfulness these days. Maybe it’s because I am in a season of transitions. My oldest child is transitioning into adulthood, making decisions about life and future as she navigates college. My 16-year-old is now driving, transitioning into a more independent teen. My home church is even in transition to a new pastor. But God is faithful. In all things. He is faithful.
In seasons of change, we need reminders of all that God has done in our lives. When we aren’t quite sure of what is to come, He gently whispers that He is faithful to do what He says He will do. His ways may not look quite like what I would choose, but we know that He is working in all things for His Glory. When we try to control the situation on our own, without prompting from the Lord, we are not trusting Him.
But I want to trust Him. And I will trust Him. (Enter His nudge and reminder of His faithfulness. Again.) Just remember how He brought us through that last hard thing. He will do it again.
And the older I get, the more times God has proven His faithfulness in my life. I have more and more stories of how I would not have made it except for Jesus. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Over and over He is good.
In Psalm 52, David reminded himself in the midst of difficult circumstances, But I am like a flourishing olive tree, in the house of God; I trust in God’s faithful love forever and ever. I will praise you forever for what you have done. In the presence of your faithful people, I will put my hope in your name, for it is good (Psalms 52:8-9).
Lord, I will put my hope in your name, for it is good.
