God’s Will
Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.
1 Chronicles 20:17
My husband and I were diligently seeking God’s direction in our business. After thirty-five years, we were weary and behind the technological times. We sensed that closing our business was ahead of us, but the timing was questionable. One day, this verse shouted to us: Position yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. He is with you…Do not be afraid or discouraged (I Chronicles 20:17).
This was an action verse for us, giving us directions for the here and now and the near future. We began to position ourselves for retirement. We had to formulate a succession plan, make adjustments in our home to make room for a home-office, insure that our financial assets could support the change, etc. Then we sensed that we needed to be ready to wait, to stand still, to watch what God would do. All along the way, He encouraged us through His Word, Do not be afraid or discouraged.
Are you waiting on direction from the Lord? Are you in a position to take whatever direction He leads? Could it be that He is waiting for you to take this crucial step before He gives you the following step? Is there sin that you need to confess in order to let go of a weight that is slowing you down? Are there relationships that you need to make right or to cultivate for the next season? Are there practical ways that you need to prepare…put a house on the market, clean out a closet, sell an asset? Are you prepared for a season of waiting? Are you spiritually fit, disciplined for that? And finally, are your eyes and heart open to see His work in your life? Or, are you so set on your solution that you are unprepared for something new and different from your own expectations?
The righteous thrive and bear fruit in old age so that they can declare: God is good, He is my rock, there is no unrighteousness in Him (Psalm 92:12).
