A Time and A Season
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens...
Ecclesiastes 3:1
My husband and I had invited several of our neighbors over for dinner. Glancing around the dinner table this verse came to my mind.
Our friends that evening were made up of a young couple with a toddler and a new baby on the way. The other friend was a retired businessman who recently lost his wife.
As we sat together enjoying our meal, we were reminiscing over sweet memories from the past. Absorbing the wisdom from our widowed friend and embracing the youthful energy from the young couple, we all displayed examples of the different seasons of life. We all had stories to share.
Each story mirrored the verses from Ecclesiastes 3:4-8
- A time to weep and a time to laugh
- A time to mourn and a time to dance
- A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them
- A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing
- A time to search and a time to give up
- A time to keep and a time to throw away
- A time to tear and a time to mend
- A time to be silent and a time to speak
- A time to love and a time to hate
- A time for war and a time for peace
Whatever season you may find yourself going through, just remember that God is with you through it all. He is faithful and He will “make everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
Dear Father,
Thank You that through every season we are strengthened and are given a testimony to share and encourage others.
