Light

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. 

Isaiah 9:2 NLT

I was lost. 

It was getting very dark. 

We were on a boat in an unfamiliar lake, unsure of the way home … and it was cloudy, no light.

Beginning to feel panic creep in, I tried to stay calm … but you can’t … not really.

Before I trusted in Jesus, I also walked in spiritual darkness … in both situations … you can’t see well, and it is hard to stay calm… panic sets in … fear takes over.

And this is how all people are before Jesus …

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine (Isaiah 9:2 NLT).

Then, this is the hope God gave to us …

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s armies will make this happen! (Isaiah 9:6-7 NLT).

A child, a son … but with a government that counsels you and has peace.

He brings a peace that will never end … a peace … a calm you find in the quiet of your heart.

God, the Lord of Heaven’s armies … will make this happen.

And it did happen …

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means, ‘God with us’” (Matthew 1:23 NLT).

I am so thankful …this Light is Jesus … He is the Light that shines in the darkness. 

Jesus is God with us … bringing peace … calm … clear direction to everyone who believes in Him.

The Light from Jesus is … a supernatural peace … a supernatural calm … a supernatural clarity unlike anything earthly.

This Light is for you, friend … and for me too … helping us find the right way.

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me sharing Your plan to free your children from darkness … a spiritual darkness and that You sent Light … spiritual light for me.  Your Light is a child, a person, Your Son, Jesus, born to bring a government of peace, spiritual peace to me. Help me continue to trust in Jesus alone so I can see clearly …  living in the Light of Your peace, Your calm. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
