Called
…each person should live as a believer in the situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God called them.
1 Corinthians 7:17
Living in a new area, I was excited when a lady from a church we had visited called and asked me to attend an event there that night. At first I had some excuses why I should not go, but then I thought, why not, and off I went.
“Called,” the topic for the evening, fit right in with what I felt about living in a new place. What did God have for me here? How soon would I figure it out? What did I need to do in the meantime?
The next morning I could not believe it when the Bible study I worked on at home brought up the same topic. It talked about doing what God called you to do no matter the circumstances.
What had God called me to do? He called me to be his child. He called me to live like a believer. He called me to live by his precepts, to be obedient. He called me to live by faith even though in an unfamiliar place.
While waiting to discover what will become the new normal – I can still live by my original calling of God. No need to fret or worry just continue to draw closer to Him.
“Called,” I like that word. I like that God called me by name into a relationship with Him. I like that the relationship is a living, breathing, growing one. I like that God uses His Word, His people, and His voice to speak directly to me.
Lord, thank you for your calling. Help me to be obedient to that call no matter what.
