Can I Get a Witness?

Can I Get a Witness?

“For no other god can save in this way.”

Daniel 3:29b

Today, we conclude our look at Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego’s faith journey. Yesterday, we left off with our faith heroes out of the furnace and without a trace of the flames. What happens as a result is nothing short of a miracle in verse 28,

“Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.”

Those were the words of King Nebuchadnezzar himself! He even issued a new decree to say that if any man were to say anything against their God, he would pay with his life. Talk about a change of heart!

In spite of persecution, the faith these three men exhibited was a strong witness for the Lord and opened the opportunity for Him to do a mighty work that changed the hearts of many.

When God allows a fiery trial in our lives, it will not only refine us, but it will impact those around us, too. He may use the situation to show His mightiness, to teach, or to encourage others.

Now, I’m on the other side of that trial, and God has kept every promise He showed me that evening. Jesus never left my side.  He gave me the strength to live and walk through it victoriously. And after some time of healing and restoration, I can honestly say “there is no smell of fire on” me.

If I had not gone through that long-lasting trial, I would not know and love Jesus like I do now.  Would I want to go through that again? No, thank you. But, am I thankful for it now? I really am. I wouldn’t be who I am today had I not learned the lessons and promises that it brought me.
