The Thoughtfulness of God

The Thoughtfulness of God

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10

I have a friend who is gifted with thoughtfulness. Every time I see her, she has a little gift for me. And, it's not just any gift, but one that holds meaning. On one occasion, I was a guest in her home for the weekend, and she had taken great lengths to make me feel pampered and special. She made sure that she prepared all of my favorite foods, provided all of my favorite toiletries, and planned all of my favorite activities. She truly went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that my stay was one that I'd never forget. I felt so special because of her thoughtful preparation.

As I have more and more opportunities to walk with women through various trials and seasons of life, I have come to realize that we are all blessed when someone takes the time to do something thoughtful for us. We all desire to feel treasured, appreciated, and loved.

When I was studying Ephesians 2 today, verse 10 struck a chord in me. For the first time in a long time, I remembered that God is extremely thoughtful in His loving care of us. You see, God of the Universe created you to be His workmanship, His masterpiece, His handiwork. And, not only did He use His best skills when He created you, He also thought about why He was creating you before He did it. Then, as if that wasn't enough to show how much He loved you, He prepared a place for you to live out the reason for which you were created. Pretty neat, huh? God's thoughtfulness is overwhelming.

The humble prayer of my heart is constantly, "Father, make me more like you and less like me." Today I'm going to add to that, "And prompt me to thoughtfully love others as you've thoughtfully loved me."

Will you join me in aiming to become more like Christ by thoughtfully loving others?
