His Voice
He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out…and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
John 10:3b-& 4b
I had the privilege of keeping my grandson two days a week this summer. Of course, he did too many cute things to list here, but one such thing he repeated several times.
Around 10:30 every morning I would turn on the TV for a children’s show he liked. He would sort of watch it while he played. No matter what he was doing though, when he heard the song about the number of the day, he would run to the TV, stop, and stare at it. He never failed to recognize that song. We even found the song on YouTube for him. He would dance and bounce up and down when we played it.
I started wondering if I got that enthusiastic when I hear the voice of God. Do I immediately drop everything and listen? Do I get excited, jump up and down, and worship Him?
John says that His sheep will follow Him because they know His voice. I am a follower of Jesus Christ so I should obey my shepherd’s voice just as the sheep did when they heard the voice of their shepherd.
Because Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of my sin, because I wholeheartedly believe that -- I am His. I do know His voice. He calls me and I listen.
What joy to believe in the Savior! What joy to be known by Him! What joy to follow Him!
Jesus, you are the Shepherd and I am the sheep. Your voice calls to me and I respond to it by listening and following. Your precious gift of knowing me is far greater than any other gift I can ever receive. I worship and adore you.
