God’s Love Grows You

God’s Love Grows You

Afterward… a peaceful harvest of right living

Hebrews 12: NLT

I have walked through tough events in recent years. It was a time of loss… the loss of my health, loss of our business, our income, our loss of home and community.

Honestly, I was often wondering “why is this happening, Lord?”

At the time, I didn’t understand. But today, I am beginning to understand.

Thankfully, this passage in Hebrews has helped me find some answers…

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves and he punishes each one he accepts as his child. As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children… But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening – it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way (Hebrews 12:5-7, 10b-11 NLT).

What did I learn?  God loves me.

When God loves me, He disciplines me, so I will live His right way.

When I look back at that time, now I see how God’s love grew me.

God changed me… for the better and I am grateful!

Scripture says… Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom (Psalm 90:12 NLT).

Jesus lovingly taught me how brief life really is and that I am to use my time wisely.

I am only given one life to live.

Jesus encourages me to use it well… leading me to a peaceful harvest of right living.

Trust Him.

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me… whispering “I love you, child… trust me in this difficult time. I am growing you and changing you to share in My holiness so you will live my right way.” Thank You, Lord, for loving me so much and teaching me so I will grow in wisdom. I am grateful. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
