…everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house,

 yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock.

A loud thump on our front door shattered our peace and quiet as we relaxed one evening. We looked but could not find anything. Before the evening expired my husband had ordered a ring doorbell for our front porch.

With a ring doorbell a person gets messages on their phone to alert them of any movement picked up on the front porch camera. The message displayed: “There is motion at your front Door.”

At this point an individual has two choices – ignore the message or check to see what image the camera picked up. Ignorance might not be bliss in this situation. Only by taking notice and then taking appropriate action will danger be thwarted.

As believers, we may not receive a message of “Satan lurking near” across our phone screen, but we do have the Word of God and the Holy Spirit alerting us of just that.

Just as with the ring doorbell, we have a choice. Do we heed the scriptures and the Holy Spirit or do we ignore them thus giving Satan a point of entry?

Putting God’s Word into practice gives us his wisdom in a fallen world. It provides us with a firm foundation for the battle against our enemy, the devil.

Guess what? There is Satan motion at our front door, back door, side windows, and every crevice in between. Rest assured, God wants us to be aware and prepare. He wants us to build our house upon him – the Rock – our only hope.

Father God, we want to be like the wise man. We want to build our house on you.
