The Gift

Seek to do what is right and to live humbly.

Zephaniah 2:3 NLT

I struggle with needing to feel… needed.

But sometimes this is a way that I make myself feel important.

It is a way of showing what I can do in my own strength… making it about me.

My desire “to do” can be a form of arrogance.

I wrestle with this sin struggle the most when Jesus tells me to… wait.

I struggle with telling Jesus, “I’ve got this!”

What does Scripture say to do?

Seek the Lord, all who are humble, and follow his commands. Seek to do what is right and to live humbly… (Zephaniah 2:3 NLT).

God blesses those who are humble… (Matthew 5:5 NLT).

I am to seek the Lord with a humble attitude and a humble lifestyle.

Waiting… following Jesus.

Why wait?

I believe Jesus wants me to know this…

We can only keep on going, after all, by the power of God, who first saved us and then called us to this holy work. We had nothing to do with it. It was all his idea, a gift prepared for us in Jesus long before we knew anything about it (2 Timothy 1:9 MSG).

Jesus wants me to know this… doing… is all Him.

It’s not me.

It is a gift prepared for me in Jesus.

He wants me to see Him at work in my life.

To see Jesus at work truly is a gift.

Note to my soul… wait for Jesus.

It is worth the wait.

Father, in the quiet of my heart, You speak to me saying… “Just wait. Wait for Me to bring things together so we will share this experience with each other. Slow down, enjoy the time of waiting.” Help me wait well. Thank You that You are the One doing it, not me. I know it will be better this way. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
