Esther-God’s Favored One

The king’s edict granted the Jews in each and every city the right to assemble and defend themselves….

Esther 8:11a (CSB)

King Xerxes’ love for Esther and eventual trust in her advice uncovered the evil plot of the destruction planned by his chief advisor, Hamon, which led to the honor and promotion of Esther’s father, Mordecai.

Esther’s courage and methodical steps of obedience eventually brought knowledge of the truth to the king.

His favor for Esther was far-reaching because her father, Mordecai, was also promoted to a place of authority.

The Jewish people were favored when the king issued an edict on their behalf which eventually liberated them.

Freedom didn’t come easy for the Jews in the region, but because of Mordecai’s guidance and Esther’s obedience, patience and courage, the truth was revealed.

A yearly Jewish celebration—Purim—is forever celebrated within the Jewish faith to mark the victory of their freedom in the ancient Persian Empire. Purim is celebrated today every year in March.

Not only were the Jewish people saved, the tables were turned as the Jews got the upper hand over those who hated them.

At that time, because of the military power of the Jews, all nationalities in Persia feared them, and some people of other nationalities were persuaded to become Jewish in their beliefs. (Esther 8:16 NIV)

God’s favored one, Esther, patiently walked through a plan given to Mordecai from God. His chosen people were eventually saved because a father and a daughter patiently and courageously lived out their faith day by day through perilous times.

This Bible story has many truths and applications which could be applied to our lives today.

God’s Word is fresh and new to someone who discovers the value of reading the true stories of those whom God chooses to fulfill His divine Kingdom Plans.
