I Am Equipped
How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever?
Psalm 13:1 (NIV)
➡️ I Lament. ➡️ I Pray. ➡️ I Trust. ➡️ I Worship.
Eugene Peterson’s expression of Psalm 13 in The Message is dramatic, and I often rely on it for encouragement and personal renewal. When I am discouraged, the words instruct me to keep on wrestling in an all-familiar battle initiated by the enemy of this world.
It’s exhausting, but endurance and victorious freedom are possible, my friend.
You say, “How long does this warfare go on? I am not strong enough to win this ongoing war.”
I encourage you to confidently speak back to the evil one with scriptures from God’s Word!
Jesus, himself, prayed, deliver us from the evil one. I love this simple and specific request. (Matthew 6:13a NIV)
Thankfully, our LORD didn’t leave the method up to us. He clearly instructs us how to be delivered from the evil one by standing firm with the weapons He has issued.
We’re up against far more than we can handle on our own. We need to utilize all the help we can get because God has issued every weapon we will need to stand firm in our faith! Truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation are more than words, learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. (Ephesians 6:10-18 MSG)
While clothed in the weapons God gives us, you should also—pray, pray and pray more!
Lord Jesus,
I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms—
I’m celebrating your rescue—
I’m singing at the top of my lungs—
I’m so full of answered prayers!
Psalm 13 (MSG)
