We Are Better Together

Some people have stopped meeting with the group of Christians. But that is not good. We should all continue to meet together. We need to help one another to be strong and brave. That is now even more important, because the Lord’s great day is coming. You know that the Lord will return soon.

Hebrews 10:25 EASY

The writer of Hebrews admonishes Christians to continue to meet together because it is good. God has designed his followers to need each other.

But honestly, who among us hasn’t hesitated to drag ourselves out of bed some Sunday mornings?

One morning my husband did not feel like going to church. He was tired, overwhelmed and depressed. He went anyway. We had only walked across the parking lot and down the hallway of the church when my husband exclaimed, “I feel better already!”

The heaviness that had burdened him moments before suddenly lifted. We had yet to hear the sermon or sing songs or go to class, which he would later do with wondrous joy.

God had bestowed on him a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair (Isaiah 61:3). Was it due to being with other believers? Was it God’s gift as a reward for his faithfulness to go to church? Whatever the reason, it was a blessed experience.

That same Sunday morning, I asked a young mother—with three little ones in tow—how she was doing. She sighed, gave me the look, and said, “We’re here.”

I knew exactly what she meant. I had three small children at one time, too. It is a major ordeal to get everyone dressed, fed and out the door. To be on time is a rarity.

Moments later, I encountered another young mother of three who gave me the same sigh, the same look and the same answer, “We’re here.”

Ladies, God will bless you as you meet with other believers. You are a significant part of the body of Christ. We need you.

Lord, thank you for the church. It is good to meet together.
