God is Faithful

God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering.

Genesis 22:8

Yesterday, we marveled at Abraham’s trust and immediate obedience when God commanded him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. Today, let’s study, as Paul Harvey would say, “the rest of the story.”

On the way up the mountain, Isaac asked his father about the absence of the lamb for the offering. Abraham replied, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son,” (Gen. 22:8).

Abraham followed through in his obedience to the point of binding Isaac, placing him on the wood, and holding his knife over him. Completely focused, the angel had to call to him several times to get his attention, “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son,” (Gen. 22:12).

Then Abraham looked and, caught in a tree, was a ram provided for the offering.

Several things come to mind when I ponder this display of Abraham’s faith and God’s faithfulness to provide.

·      Abraham completely obeyed and did not waver for one instance in his steps of obedience.

·      God provided for the sacrifice, but not until after Abraham stepped out in obedience.

When God called me to start a blog, I had many questions. What should I call it? What did He want me to write? How do I create one?

I researched and prayed for weeks. While I studied the steps of creating a website, God did not answer my content questions.

It was not until I stepped out in obedience and began the process of making the website, that ideas came like a wave to my mind.

What are you waiting for Him to answer for you? Is He waiting for you to obey what He’s already told you before He answers the rest of your questions? Maybe. It’s something to consider.
