Waiting

But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 7:7

Have you seen all the hype about the releases of new phones, video games, etc.? People guess about release dates, and news is made when information about the product is leaked. People line up, maybe even camp out for days, to get the latest and greatest.

Maybe you are not a technology junkie, but are you a bargain shopper? Are you willing to get up in the middle of the night to wait for a store to open its doors on Black Friday? You are more likely to find me in one of these lines! There are all kinds of things for which we are willing to wait:  movies, amusement parks, and new restaurants.

So why is it so hard to wait on the LORD? Most personal requests or spiritual petitions are not a quick fix, and there’s no “release date.” Now God can heal in a heartbeat, and He can change a circumstance before you turn around. But it seems God doesn’t always work that way. God is in the business of bringing glory to Himself, and your desired outcome may not be the way in which He moves.

Have you been waiting on God for a long time, maybe even years? I’m right there with you. It’s tough! Micah lived during a time when God’s people had turned from Him and pursued their own wicked ways. Micah says he watched in hope for the LORD. Micah knew that the Lord heard him, and he was filled with hope.

How do we watch in hope when waiting is so hard? Seek Him. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13). We may never get all the answers this side of heaven, but we can have Him. Let’s get in line for Jesus. He is the latest and greatest!

Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary (Isaiah 40:31).
