Our Champion
Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go…
Exodus 6:1a
Have you ever just flat out found yourself down in the dumps? I have.
That is exactly how the children of Israel felt in the early chapters of Exodus. Their unbearable circumstances of slavery led them to despondency.
They had lost hope. Pharaoh was bigger and “badder” than anything they had encountered in their lives. He had the power and they believed they had none.
God, on the other hand, knew who really had the power. He promised to rescue His people from slavery.
God identified himself to Moses and assured him that because of “his mighty hand” Pharaoh would let his people go. He asked Moses to deliver this message of hope and purpose to the Israelites. He had not forgotten his covenant with the Israelites nor had he abandoned them. He heard their cry.
Sisters, God wants to do the same for us. Whatever situation we find ourselves in, God can handle it. He has a plan. He knows our need and will lead us out with singing just as he did the Israelites.
Our part in this rescue is to follow Him. Look to our champion, our Father, our defender for delivery. He has the power and might to rescue us. He can outmaneuver whatever enslaves us.
We may be broken in spirit like the Israelites, but He can overcome our brokenness and make us whole. He can part our “Red Seas” and protect us from the stormy waters. He can lead us through the wilderness and provide for our needs while doing so.
Look up, dear friend. Cry out to him. Accept his leadership. Go where He leads. Let’s get out of our dumps by focusing on our Champion.
Father God, you are our healer and deliverer. Thank you for victory over difficulty and defeat. You truly are the Champion.
