When Truth Doesn’t Matter

Because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever!

Romans 1:25 (ESV)

Truth does matter. But …

Sadly, the American culture shifts like unstable sand. I remember when the Bible could be referenced in conversations with skeptics as a defense for our faith. Then, those of us in-Christ were labeled as narrow-minded and intolerant. Now, truth is considered irrelevant. Truth hasn’t changed, but it doesn’t seem to matter. Currently, Christ followers are declared hateful. Through history, the world has exchanged the truth about God for a lie. Yet, Jesus exhorts his beloved to share the good news and be light in the darkness.

How can we remain bold and effective in order to impact people’s deceived hearts?

Each child of God has a unique story to tell. God is writing it, and no one can rewrite or blot out our experience.  We may be persecuted or belittled for sharing what Jesus has accomplished in our lives, but no one can steal it. God causes genuine life transformation, internally, by supernatural power.

How do I know that God is real and active in my life?

He allowed me to give birth to two incredible children when it was physically impossible.

He has softened my heart to be able to forgive others.

He called me to teach Sunday school for middle-school girls for over 20 years, even though I don’t naturally love children—but I loved them!

His love rescued me from the pit of despair and preserved my life.

He gives me courage to be involved in community with others even though I prefer to isolate myself.

He broke me of the pride of believing that I was in control of my life.

Truth matters, but as it’s suppressed around us, let’s share our God-given stories. Most people listen to and remember real life accounts.

Lord God, thank you for writing our personal stories of your amazing grace and love. Empower us to share them for the sake of your kingdom.
