Persistence
Stand firm, and you will win life.
Luke 21:19
I have bird feeders in my backyard that I enjoy looking at throughout the day. We have seen a variety of beautiful birds over the years. Joining these beautiful creatures is a pesky little squirrel that climbs up the bird feeder to enjoy a delicious meal. At times he will even go to great lengths by dangling in the air, stretching his whole body trying to get the food out of the feeder. Everyday that persistent squirrel comes to my feeder, and everyday I shoo him away.
I started comparing my Christian walk to that persistent squirrel. In spite of push backs, obstacles and distractions, that squirrel does not sway. He continues to come back every single day. When I have my quiet time with the Lord, Satan is trying to find ways to distract me, knock me down, and shoo me away from meeting with my God. He doesn't want me to enjoy fellowship with my Father and get spiritually fed from His Word.
.I need to be more like the squirrel! Staying persistent to the point that Satan says, “Forget this girl, I can’t distract her!”
Dear Lord, I pray that I stay persistent in growing in my faith, regardless of the setbacks and the distractions Satan tries to bring my way. I want to keep passionately pursuing You.
