Action, Action, We Want Action!
I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Deuteronomy 32:3
As a teenager, we used to yell a cheer at sporting events, “Action, action, we want action! A-C-T (clap, clap, clap) I-O-N!”
I have noticed that cheer still applies to my life now. I do not lose weight just by joining Weight Watchers. I do not become a runner just because I put on running shoes. I do not necessarily worship just by sitting in church.
To be successful at any of these activities I have to put more action behind my intentions. To lose weight I must make sure I eat a healthy diet. To be a runner, I have to get out there and do it.
To worship, I must become a participant. I must prepare my heart and tune out the world. My thoughts should cling to the One I love – God, the creator of the universe. He deserves my undivided attention. He deserves my praise.
To put worship in action I must become fully engaged with our great and mighty God. How can I not worship Him if I meditate on his faithfulness?
As I look back on my life at His goodness and mercy for me in both the good times and bad, my worship of Him heightens. My heart swells with adoration for Him. His action in my life is easy to recognize. I worship his presence. I praise his name. When I focus on all of these things, worship and praise just pour out of me. I cannot help it.
A-C-T-I-O-N!
God, You are worthy of the action of praise and worship. You are my Rock. You are perfect and just. Thank you, God. I proclaim your name!
