Heavenly Home

Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.

Psalm 62:8

A silent nursery waited to receive the little one who would never come.

As I stood in the muddy cemetery, rain clouds building all around, I knew this was the first step of healing for the young family before me. The little casket sat next to a teddy bear. The mom, wearing a light pink dress, worshiped in the front row as her husband led the small gathering in “Amazing Grace.”

From the first weeks of pregnancy, they knew there was a chance their daughter wouldn’t survive, but an in-utero surgery attempted to fix her little lungs. When she was born, all seemed fine. Then after a short five minutes of joy, nurses whisked her away. Less than an hour later, she was gone.

When King David’s baby died, he grieved bitterly but comforted himself that one day he would join his child.

“Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.” (2 Sam. 12:23)

David believed his baby was waiting for him in their Heavenly Home.

This is the hope for all who have lost babies to miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion or a complication.

One day there will be a magnificent reunion where mamas and their children will embrace. Death’s tyranny will be extinguished forever. There will be no more separation. No more tears. No more funerals.

Until that time, like David, put your hope in God. Pour your heart out to Him in honest prayer and receive the comfort only He can give.

Heavenly Father, thank You that as David awaited the joy of Heaven, I can as well.
