Answered Prayer
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
My brother’s stress-filled call led me to consider carefully how to answer. I finally used the common phrase, “God’s got it under control.”
I firmly believed this phrase especially in that situation. I had already seen evidence of His faithfulness in what we experienced.
My parents had to down size and had put their house on the market. It did not take long for them to get a contract on it. My brother panicked because we had to find a smaller house for them to live in quickly.
I just had to believe that God had provided a buyer for their larger home and would provide the smaller house we needed. I prayed that God would meet our need in such a way that my brother would recognize His hand in our situation.
God heard my prayer and acted quickly. The very next day after our conversation, the perfect house “showed up” on my sister-in-law’s Facebook feed. This sister-in-law just happens to be my brother’s wife. They do not even live in the same town as my parents and there was no apparent reason for this house to turn up on her feed. No apparent reason except for it answered my prayer. God was in control.
By the end of the week, we had a contract on the smaller house and began packing boxes for their move.
In my next conversation with my brother I tried really hard not to say, “I told you so.”
I did remind him of my statement that God had it. He chuckled while stating, “I knew you would say that!”
I know not all prayers are answered that immediately, but I do believe in God’s faithfulness to hear and answer them in His timing.
Thank you, Lord, for answering prayers and the peace which only comes from You.
