Who Knew?

“Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?” The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Matthew 25:37b & 40

Many people get negative feelings about social media. I must admit I probably do not manage my time on Facebook as well as I should. On a positive note though, I have connected with people I never thought I would hear from ever again. Therein lies the blessing.

I had taught school in a military town some thirty or more years ago. We had a close knit group of singles at the church I attended. The church did a great job ministering to young singles both military and civilian.

Recently, I received a friend request from one of the guys who had been in that group. I remember him being a dare devil and many times in trouble with the Army. I also remember occasionally giving him rides to and from places, encouraging him to attend church, and once taking him to my hometown for a holiday.

Imagine my surprise when he wrote about how my actions impacted him spiritually. I do not remember intentionally witnessing to him, but evidently I had unintentionally.

His Facebook post both shocked and humbled me as he told how I had shown him the love of the Father. Tears fell as I read what he had written.

Who knew?

God did. Because of His Spirit in my life He reigned supreme and allowed someone to see Himself in me. I do not brag on myself when I share this story, I brag on Jesus Christ our Lord. I brag because His purpose came to life even when I did not realize it.

Lord, thank You for allowing others to see You in Your children. Help us to remember that Your face shines through in our kindness to others.
