The key word in this verse is "asking". December is certainly the month for asking. We ask our family members, "What do you want for Christmas?" Our children ask us, "What did you get me for Christmas?" They ask because they expect to receive, just like the lame man begging for alms.
Many of our acquaintances and loved ones may be begging or asking for more than alms. Like the lame man, they are in a hopeless condition and need to know Jesus. During the busiest time of the year, their asking can be subtle expressions or comments that are easily overlooked if we lose our discipleship focus.
Peter and John were going to the temple to pray. They responded to the lame man with the message of Christ. When you go forth today, listen and answer those asking to know more about Jesus.
