Are you hanging on the edge of a cliff right now? Are you really tired of trying to hang on all by yourself? Imagine with me for a minute that you are the co-star of the movie Cliffhanger, and that Sylvester Stallone is reaching out his hand to pull you up before you fall from the edge a cliff. Will you, in this moment of sudden decision, reach out and take his hand or will you allow yourself to fall? Look at the one holding out his hand, does he have enough strength to save you? If you saw the movie you know that one time he saves a friend, and another time he fails.
There is someone who never fails, and His strength will always be sufficient. He saves you with that strength and He offers it for your own use. 1 Chronicles 29:12b says, "In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all."
There are so many times that I have failed to call on God's strength. I remember days when one appointment seemed to run into the next, and things continued to stack up and cause me stress. I fail, when I try to handle everything on my own. Sometimes just whispering the name of Jesus in prayer will give me enough strength to continue. But, there are times when nothing but falling on my face before God and calling on His promise of strength will help.
Have you been in one of these situations recently? Reach out and take hold of that "righteous right hand" that holds unlimited strength. Claim the promise of Dueteronomy 31:6, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
