Good day! Did you listen or watch the news this morning? Were you deceived by the news reports? How much was true or maybe the better question is "how much wasn't?" Whether it's the news in the morning, visiting with a neighbor or a fellow employee....how much of what we hear and then repeat can we base on factual information.
The Bible is fact, and Eve encountered for the first time the greatest deceiver of all, Satan. She wanted knowledge of good and evil and she wanted to be like God. What she didn't understand was that she was in fellowship with God and could go to Him with the desires of her heart. Instead she fell for the lies of one she didn't know...one who didn't care anything about her, but only desired power for himself.
Guess what? Satan is still around. He's on our billboards, he's on our televisions, he distorts our value systems, he attacks our political systems, crushes our families, and rejoices when he sells the unbeliever a life without Christ.
In Romans 16:18-20, Paul tells us that "such men are slaves not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. For the report of your obedience has reached to all...but I want you to be wise in what is good, and innocent in what is evil. And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet."
As believers, we can be confident knowing that God will overcome the evil among us. As Paul Harvey would say, "...and now you know the rest of the story."
