HOLY SPIRIT

" 'Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.' By this He meant the Spirit..." (John 7:38-39b)

I once experienced the power of a "stream of living water." It was while whitewater rafting on the San Juan River in Colorado and I will admit to being more miserable than I thought I could ever be. Not only was I afraid, but I was also terribly cold from the temperature of the water. I made one of those promises to God, "If you get me out of this..." You know the kind. Well, He got me out, and at the same time I got to experience the awesome power of that river.

There was another time when I experienced the awesome power of a "stream of living water." This time it was the power of the Holy Spirit, flowing through me, not outside of me. I was speaking before a large group of women, something I am not at all comfortable doing. I was comfortable with the topic of praise and worship, but the length of 25 minutes was too much. I am a woman of few words, my husband thinks I am the only woman alive who doesn't talk 25 minutes all day. Needless to say, this was a stretch for me.

But, you know, the Holy Spirit really got me through it. I called on Him for His help, I prayed, I prepared, I did my part and He did His. I believed and He flowed. God asked me to take a step into deep, rushing water and the Holy Spirit was there to carry me through it.

Is there something today that is making you fearful? Pray, prepare, do your part, then believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to get you through any challenge.
