The market gardens have also drastically suffered during this season of drought. I have one tomato plant in a clay pot on my patio and I can easily hand-water it. I had great hopes for my tomato crop, when I counted the abundance of blooms. But we have enjoyed only 6 tomatoes. A real gardener had to educate me. You need to have temperatures near 70 degrees to set the fruit. It's been a long time since we have seen temperatures that low.
On the other hand, the crape myrtle trees in my garden and all over the city are flourishing. Their delicate blooms love the heat.
Both my tomato plant and the crape myrtles receive plenty of water. Whether they fulfill their purpose or not,to bear fruit or to flower, depends on the temperature.
My soul has access to God's water supply. When I am spiritually dry, perhaps the one variable condition is my trust in the Lord. I need to rely on Him completely.
Lord, the water is plentiful. Help me to trust you more.
